PA residents who receive SNAP assistance for food will face a dilemma come November when they do not receive their usual monthly payments. This will create more demand for food pantries and community kitchens across the state; a challenge we have not seen since the pandemic.
Soon, over 160,000 Allegheny County residents and over 300,000 Pittsburgh-area residents will be turning to resources like ours to ensure their families are fed. This comes as food insecurity was already on the rise before the government shutdown, with large federal cuts and restrictions already impacting millions across the country.
EECM needs your help to ensure we have enough food to meet this urgent need.
EECM provides a hot meal Monday through Friday to anyone who needs one at our location in East Liberty, Pittsburgh. Our food pantry is open every weekday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to provide pantry staples. We are serving more people than ever before and only see that rising as we move forward through the government shutdown and mitigate cuts to federal funding.
Every donation goes a long way to supporting the 12,000+ individuals and counting who rely on us to supplement the food they have at home.
Just $4.22 provides a hot meal.
$20 provides a pantry client groceries for a week.
$50 provides a family of four groceries for a week.
We understand that many people in our region are struggling to make ends meet. But if you have the ability to give, please consider making a donation to EECM as we need it now more than ever.
