My trusty steed, my van, Mathilda, overheated last Tuesday.
2 1/2 hours into a five hour trip from Boston to Auburn, New York, this evening, she has overheated and in true sitcom fashion, began hissing and pouring steam out from under the hood.
It’s the radiator, and it’s $905 to fix. They fixed her but she’s still there.
I bought Mathilda almost 6 years ago, at the beginning of the pandemic. Little did I know that she would see me through depressio, take me across the country several times, and become my transport vehicle when I began working in dog rescue in Dallas, Texas, and see me through the loss of my first dog.
Me and Mathilda have given countless freedom rides to dogs all across Texas, and even a cat! I have camped in her, loved her and taken care of her. And she has taken care of me. She fits me and my own two dogs, Sam and Trudy, she takes me to work, and takes them to the dog park, and other outings. She has also fit numerous set pieces and props to theaters across the country. As a working actor and playwright, she is invaluable and integral in me continuing to create and produce work for myself and others.
If you are able to help or share, I would be so grateful.
