INTRO beginning of my book
In the beginning of Stacey's life she thought it was normal to be concealed in a house with her
four siblings. Only leaving to go to school, which was hell itself. She didn't know kids were
allowed to hang after school and thought sleepovers only existed in movies. She went to a new
school every year, so making friends was a big challenge. As she got older she became more
aware of her sheltered situation and only dreamt of a more normal upbringing.
Her whole life changed after her father's suicide. Once was daddy's little girl to mommy's
disappointing lost cause.
Stacey was the youngest of her mother's five children in which she gave birth to her the age of
22. Her eldest brother Jeffrey had his own father. Allen, Shannon and Anthony shared a father
and Stacey had her own father, which was the one who raised all five children while their mother
worked. Her mother, Tracy was the sole provider of the household of seven, working at an adult
store to pay the bills as well as going to school to be a nurses aid. She went with Stacey's
father's ideology, kids stay on the property and if they don't hang out with anyone they can't get
in trouble. Stacey didn't really know much about mother as she only really ever saw her when
she transported Stacey and her siblings to and from school.
Her father, Patrick had drug addictions and mental illnesses, which made the whole family feel
like they were always walking on eggshells. He was very protective of the children, and thought
he was saving them from life's hardships by keeping them safe at home. Phone usage was
unknown and leaving the backyard prohibited.
The family lived in Flint, Michigan where the streets we rough and riddled with prostitutes and
drugs were found at almost every corner.
CHAPTER 1: Just the way it is
. Her father was mentally ill with schizophrenia, bipolar and was going through manic
depression. His family thought it was due to his mother leaving him at a young age in and out of
his life. Also blaming his stepmother who was known for being abusive. He had been in and out
of the psych ward his whole life. Even getting banned from Germany after trying to attack the
police with a samurai sword on his stepfather's military base, they shipped him on an airplane to
an Alabama psych ward in a straitjacket. Stacey's father was known for his smart wit and anger.
When we got punished it wasn't for days or weeks but for months, sometimes even surpassing
a year given the crime. My dad said that we couldn't be trusted to be unsupervised so we were
forced to sit on the dining room floor, legs crossed staring at a wall and an ass whooping with a
weight lifter belt of course. We played with the carpet ,prolonged our homework and when it got
dark we could watch TV which was reflecting off the dining room windows. The only thing we
were allowed to do under punishment was homework and chores and if we had to go to the
