Thursday we found ourselves rushing Ahsoka to the ER. Seeing the bright red blood in her vomit was one of the most terrifying moments we've ever experienced. When the vet diagnosed pancreatitis, we had no idea what to do.
The vets told us that there isn't a cure of pancreatitis. It's more about managing the symptoms and pain. Sean and I knew that we wouldn't be able to help her properly so we made the difficult decision to leave her with the professionals who would be able to catch any negative signs before we could.
Ahsoka has been staying at the hospital for 3 days and 2 nights so far. She has been surrounded by round-the-clock care of amazing and caring vets.
The good news is that the latest results are promising, and they believe she’ll make a full recovery. However, knowing how much pain she’s endured is truly heart-wrenching.
Ahsoka means everything to us. Her joyful presence fills every corner of our home with laughter, and her wagging nub greets everyone with affection. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her - even people who say they don't like dogs can't resist her.
The suddenness of this situation blindsided us. The doctor assured us that we hadn’t done anything wrong, explaining that some dogs are simply more prone to these conditions. She said that we did everything right.
Despite this emotional whirlwind, we will be welcoming Ahsoka back home soon, lively, healthy, and ready for so many adventures.
