Hello All,
My name is Cynthia Tran, I am Button's primary caretaker and I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to show support and listen to this message. Many of you know Button as my spunky 7 month old kitty who is very playful and loves attention. I adopted Button from a women who nursed his litter to health after being born on the streets in April of 2022. Button has always been a healthy cat and started regular visits to the general vet at 8 weeks old. Recently, he has been having persisting issues with feline lower urinary tract disease, also known as FLUTD. This is a condition that affects the bladder and his ability to urinate. FLUTD can be triggered by stress, underlying diseases, and genetic pre-disposition.
Most cats will encounter issues with FLUTD in their lifetime, however in Button's case, at 7 months old his body was not able to handle the mineral blockage in his urethra. Thus, resulting a full bladder and pressure in his kidneys. Cats are also norotois for hiding their illnesses, yet after almost 24 hours I began to become suspectious of his behavior. I scheduled a vet appointment for him the next morning at the earliest appointment. When I woke up, he was too weak to move his body or respond to my touch. He was immobile and limp, so we rushed into critical condition at BluePearl Emergency Hospital instead of the original veterinarian to receive care.
As of 10/20/22 he is still admitted in the ER with overnight care for up to 72 hours, costing $3500 deposit with an estimated additional $2000 if he should stay the full 72 hours. As his closest companion and caretaker, it is my responsibility to give him the best chance of survival after his blockage. There is no cure for FLUTD, only treatment for its symptoms, so relapse and the inability to urinate is still likely after being released from care. In addition, medications, prescribed food, and visits to his primary vet in cases of relapse prove costly.
I appreciate your time and any donations you are able to contribute for a college student who loves her cat. If you made it this far, my graditude to you is boundless. Please share this message to best support Button🖤
Edit: feel free to reach out if you know me personally to donate through zelle/venmo if youre unsure of spotfund, I have be notified they charge a donation fee for donators (around 10% or .10 per dollar) :(
