We're a trans group home in Portland. The house has been around for 98 years and used to have a high turnover rate as a punk house. Folks would move in, trash the place, and move out--often without making payments. Over time, the house literally began falling apart and going further into debt.
Last year, we decided to turn our house into a home and turn a new leaf. We filled the holes in the walls, cleaned out the mess, and started bringing things up to code.
But, all of the back payments from turnovers are now catching up with us and we are at risk of foreclosure. We're a group of trans disabled folks and don't know where we would be able to go if this comes to pass, which is terrifying. Plus, the timing of this amidst finally taking care of the space is disappointing to say the least.
We're swallowing our pride and asking our community for help. This is honestly a scary time and we know that everyone is struggling right now. We appreciate the time you've taken to read this and any amount of sharing is appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
