Our doggy, Kitsune, was named for the Japanese fox spirit because she looks fox like and because she's a wonderful friend and companion.

She's an active dog who likes to go on hikes whenever possible or play in the backyard with our other dog. Unfortunately, when running outside to play she slipped just right and ruptured one of her cruciate ligaments in her hind leg.

Our vet gave us two options, surgery, or ignore it and condemn her a life with severe arthritis. Kitsune is only 9 years old and full of energy so we have opted for surgery.

This is going to cost us $3,500 so we have decided to see if friends, family, and the kindness of strangers might be willing to help us.

It's been a rough year for our dogs, Kitsune had surgery in May to have a tumor removed from her ear. Wodan, our other dog, had surgery a few months before that to have a cyst removed from his face. We love our dogs, and we're normally prepared for the extra expenses they bring, but we were not expecting our jumping, running, active puppers to rupture a ligament.

Any kind of support is appreciated, a kind word or sharing our story means a lot.

We met with the surgeon and got bad news and good news. The bad news is she tore both of her ACL's in her hind legs, the good news is only one needs surgical correction.

Right now we have surgery scheduled for next week, July 27th. In the meantime we're just trying to keep her comfortable at home.

After surgery she'll spend 12 weeks on a leash at home, working on rehabilitating her knee and getting back to as normal as possible. Surgery has a 90% success rate.
