I met Ann a few years ago at a writer's luncheon, and we became fast friends.
She and her husband Eric had moved to Phoenix for his work.
February 18, 2025, Eric was diagnosed with lung cancer, but it has since spread to his brain, his bones, and his liver. He currently has 183 tumors in his brain, mainly in the frontal lobe.
Shortly after the diagnosis, his contract job let him go, and their income was drastically reduced.
Initially diagnosed with adenal carcinoma, the VA began treatments in April. A little over a month ago, his doctors paused cancer treatment because of malnutrition.
Eric has lost significant weight, as well as cognitive, balance, and contininence skills. Ann is his sole caretaker at this time.
Ann requested a home health provider to help physically care for him back in August, but just had the first interview with a nurse last week, and doesn't know when care will actually begin.
As she said, "In the past week, I've gotten barely half an hour of sleep at a time."
Ann's goal is to get Eric back to Missouri so he can spend his last days with family, and family can help her care for him as well.
The challenge is, they need funds to get their RV and car travel-ready for the cross-country journey, and to cover the cost of transportation.
Eric is a retired Army veteran, former police chief, and former fire chief. He's served his country all his life, and now he needs our help to get home.
Every bit helps.
Please pray for Ann and Eric to be reunited with their family!
