Hi! My name is Nikki and I am a Doctor of Audiology student at Ohio State University with a passion for helping people reconnect with the sounds that keep us safe, connected, and engaged with the world around us.
This year, I have been given an incredible opportunity to travel to Mexico with Hearing the Call, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hearing healthcare to underserved communities around the world. During this outreach trip, our team of audiologists and audiology students will provide hearing evaluations, fit hearing aids, educate patients and caregivers, and help individuals who otherwise have little or no access to hearing healthcare.
This mission is personal to me because I have hearing loss and wear hearing aids every day. I understand how much access to hearing care can impact someone’s life. Hearing is not just about conversation, it helps with safety, awareness, confidence, independence, and staying connected to the people around us. I have been very fortunate to have access to hearing healthcare, and I believe others deserve that same opportunity, no matter where they live or what resources they have.
