My daughter and I are asking for a little help as we work to rebuild our lives after an incredibly difficult season. Following the loss of my son, we didn't know what would happen to his home. Wanting to protect it from foreclosure, we moved in and continued making the mortgage payments while trying to determine the proper next steps.
Later, we were evicted after being treated as tenants, despite the payments we had made to keep the home from being lost. During the eviction, we lost nearly all of our belongings and have been working ever since to recover from that devastating setback.
Today, we finally have hope. My daughter and I have both recently started new jobs, but we're caught in the difficult period before receiving our first paychecks. At the same time, both of our vehicles need repairs to remain reliable for work—one needs brakes, the other needs steering repairs—and both of our license plate tags have expired.
We're not looking for a handout to live on; we're looking for a bridge to help us make it to our first paychecks so we can continue working, pay our bills, and regain our financial stability.
