My name is Alex Gaytan, and I’ve been a proud member of the Homestead Marching Band for the past three years. This year marks my fourth and final season, and I can truly say that this band has become more than just an activity — it’s been a family and a community that I’ve cherished deeply.
The experiences, friendships, and lessons I’ve gained through marching band have inspired me to take the next step: auditioning for Drum Corps International (DCI). DCI is a competitive and life-changing opportunity that allows passionate performers like me to grow, travel, and perform at the highest level.
This would be my first time participating in DCI, and while I’m excited and determined to chase this dream, the financial cost is a challenge I can’t meet on my own right now.
