My name is Bryan Jones, I am currently incarcerated at New Castle Correctional Facility in Indiana. I am in the process of attempting to get back into court for a sentence modification. I was sentenced to 50 years (25) for multiple burglary offenses. If not for an addiction to crack cocaine-the offenses would not have been committed. The addiction began when I was only 19 years old, before my junior year at Anderson University, where I majored in business management. I was charged as a habitual offender, despite all of my crimes occurring within a few weeks and part of one addictive episode.
I am now 37 years old and have served exactly half of my sentence (12 1/2 years). Furthermore, I am not simply asking you to donate to my cause, but I am asking you to make an investment in me. However, I cannot ask you to invest in me without you knowing exactly who and what you are investing in.
After 9 years in prison, I finally grew tired of how I was living and gave my life to God in 2018. Only a couple of days after that did I discover that He had given me a gift and a purpose. The gift was writing gospel music, and the purpose is to share that music and my testimony with the world for His glory. I have written more than 2 complete albums, and I am going to put together a gospel group when I am released. I also want to talk to young people to keep them from going down the road I have been down, and to addicts to let them know they can get off the road they are on because I did.
Not only that, but I've spent so much of my life being a bad person that I just want to spend the rest of it being a good one. If I had to give myself a mission statement, that would be it. My only reasons for wanting to get out sooner rather than later are to do the work God has for me to do, and to be there for my family, and my community. I have no children, but I do have three siblings who need their big brother and a mother who needs her son.
Even though I was 24 years old when I was incarcerated, I was still a kid. But I am now a man who is far from whom I was then, and that is only by the grace of God through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am delivered from my addiction, and I wouldn't dare waste your generosity or God's grace by going back. Last September, I did complete the Recovery While Incarcerated Substance Abuse Program. Please help me be able to afford legal representation so that I can get back in court, and back to society where I can truly make a difference and do what God has called me to do.
Anything you are able and willing to do would be greatly appreciated and not done in vain. God has given me too special of a gift, and too great of a testimony, to sit in prison for much longer. Thank you and God bless.
