Hi, my name is Monica. I’m a disabled Native American woman currently homeless in Nevada, trying to survive in my car with my dog Harley, a loving and protective Rottweiler I just took in after my ex passed away last week.
Harley means everything to me, but it’s been nearly impossible to find housing that will accept a Rottweiler — even though he’s well-behaved and deeply bonded to me. Most places turn us away because of his breed, and I can’t leave him behind.
We’ve been stuck living in my car during this brutal heat, with no air conditioning. I’ve been running the car just to keep us from overheating, but it’s wearing the engine down, and I’m almost out of gas. I’m scared we won’t make it much longer like this.
I’m trying to raise enough to get us into a pet-friendly weekly motel that will allow Harley, which costs about $350–$400/week. I’m also looking into remote work and going back to school so I can build a better future — but right now, we just need a safe place to land.
If you can help us get out of the heat and into shelter, I would be so grateful. Every donation helps — and if you can’t donate, please consider sharing.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Monica T. & Harley 🐾
