Anyone who’s met me for even 5 minutes knows that Roxie is my wholeeeee world. She’s truly one of a kind & the most amazing doggie on the planet. She’s truly my soul dog. We’ve been through some stuff over the years.
You know that cliché about rescue dogs where people say “who really rescued who?”
There’s no question about it, Roxie saved my life. Without a doubt, she is 100% responsible for me being alive today. Not just that, but also for having a life worth living. She was my motivation to get sober. With her by my side, I’ve got over 5 years (and counting!) clean & sober now! The both of us have had a rough go at life. The Dodo did a story on Roxie’s story. Along the way, she’s torn both cruciate ligaments & needed TPLO & meniscal repair TWICE. She has two different types of seizures, one of which can be directly triggered by anxiety - which she has a TON of at any given moment. Last year, when we thought her health issues were calming down, I noticed a lump on her side. Dr Choi confirmed my fears- it was cancer. We were able to have surgery to remove it before it progressed to the point of needing chemo. Once again, thought we were in the clear. But now, there are two new lumps.
Her arthritis medication & her Cytopoint injections cost me over $300 alone every single month. I recently stepped away from my second job, after working two full time jobs for 4 years.
I’m doing Uber & Walmart deliveries & little things of the sort on the side to supplement my income solely for Roxie’s needs but another surgery simply isn’t in the cards financially right now or anytime soon. I started this at the suggestion/request of an acquaintance.
I started it solely so that anyone who would like to donate towards her medical care can do so. I’m not going to be campaigning on social media or anything like that.
