On May 10, 2025 our Martynenko family lost our beloved son, husband and father Alex (Oleksandr) Martynenko, 36 years old, to a tragic climbing accident. Alex left behind his beautiful wife Olga and a 5 year old son Daniel.
Alex loved hiking and climbing mountains, like a fish needs water to live, it was part of his DNA. Being in the mountains “was life itself” for him, and his passion for connecting with the raw beauty of the forest and nature gave him a since of purpose and connection in life that he never had felt before.
Alex felt the most happy, free, connected with life, and excitement when hiking, climbing and exploring with his friends in the outdoor community. The thrill of climbing a new mountain was pure “JOY”, and the exhilaration of accomplishing a new peak or hike trail was Alex’s ultimate pleasure in life. He was passionately in love with being in nature, hiking and climbing mountains, it made him a happy, peaceful, a great person to spend time with, and his peace and happiness was contagious making him a better husband, father, son, and friend.
The legacy that Alex has left is “everyone should find their happiness and satisfaction in life in their own version of “mountain climbing”. Everyone should spend time doing something healthy that makes them feel connected to life, happier, and making each of us also contagious in our happiness and peace. So, inspired by Alex’s legacy the Martynenko Family has decided to create a foundation to help the outdoor community pursue their adventure in a safer was and provide resources for the rescue community.
The Martynenko family is creating The “Alex M’Art Foundation” and they want Alexs’ life to have meaning and inspire the outdoor community to join us in finding ways to make following your passion for adventure in the mountains safer for current and future explorers.
Starting in the next few months the Alex M’Art Foundation first goal is to establish itself to conduct research on mountain safety, study and analyse using new AI tools what is the current number of accidents, hiking habits, procedures, tools, safety guidelines, experience, mindset hikers and climbers. The goal is to understand the causes of accidents, failures in equipment, safety guidelines, procedures, habits, and after 12 months of extensive research The “Alex M’Art Foundation will present the results to the research to our outdoor community and invite everyone to a “Alex M’Art Foundation Conference here at the Archer a week after mother’s day.
The exact details of “The Alex M’Art Foundation Conference” will be released with 6 months. During this conference we will present the results of the research, statistics, valuable information, and invite expert speakers to present their insights and everyone will participate in making a 5 year action plan to help make the outdoor adventure safer, so other mothers, father’s, wife’s, sons, daughters, and friends don’t have to spend their mother’s day grieving for the loss of their loved ones.
We thank you in advance for your contribution in funds and support in volunteering your time, expertise and impute in the The Alex M’Art Foundation Research and Conference May 2026.
All support is greatly appreciated.
