On August 1st, 2026, my daughter Summer faced an unexpected medical emergency that has profoundly impacted our lives. She went to the ER with severe pain, where doctors discovered a grapefruit-sized cyst on her ovary. The situation escalated quickly, and during surgery, they had to remove both the cyst and the attached ovary. Our world shifted further when the doctors found Summer’s uterus in poor condition, recommending a full hysterectomy—an overwhelming prospect for a 26-year-old with just one young child, my little granddaughter. The loss of her job during recovery has added a layer of uncertainty to an already challenging time.
Summer is a devoted single mother to her 16-month-old daughter, and this setback has been incredibly difficult. Watching her navigate these uncharted waters, both emotionally and financially, has been heart-wrenching. The support we've already received has been incredible, easing some of the burdens she faces day-to-day as she focuses on healing and being there for her daughter.
