We are helping a Palestinian family who have been in dire circumstances during the past two years of war. Michelle met Imad ten years ago through a Fetzer project and has spent time with him in Kalamazoo and in Jerusalem. He lives in the West Bank, Hebron, and worked for many years as a peacebuilder fostering collaboration and bridge building between people of different religions and cultures in the Holy Land.
The Gaza war began in October 2023, making it impossible for Imad to continue his work. Since then, he has struggled to support his family which includes his wife Kholoud, their eight children, and his mother. With no source of income, the family needs help for basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, and schooling for the children.
We are seeking support for Imad’s eldest son, Ahmed, in his hopes to become a medical doctor. Ahmed earned excellent grades in school and just finished his first semester at Al Najah University in Nablus, a top university. He is enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine program in Biomedical Science, which takes six years to complete, followed by a one-year internship. The cost of the tuition is approximately $4,500 US per semester, with three semesters per year. He also needs to cover books, transportation, and living expenses of about $800 per month. We believe that supporting Ahmed’s education not only relieves some pressure on his immediate family but also invests in the future of the community in which he lives and will serve.
A local organization Hebron International Resource Network will receive and hold the funds. They will disburse tuition payments each semester. We hope you will consider this opportunity to support a young scholar in his journey to achieve his dream of becoming a doctor.
