On Wednesday 2/23 Robert fell on some ice which resulted in him breaking both his tibia and fibula. He was then admitted to the hospital to have surgery to repair the breaks. Due to swelling at the fracture site and fracture blisters forming they were not able to do the permanent surgical fix and instead opted for an external fixator. He currently has three pins (one going through his heel and two in further up his leg) and metal rods connecting them to stabilize the fractures for now to allow for reduction of the swelling so that they will be able to go in and do an ORIF (open reduction internal fixation) repair in which they place plates and screws internally to stabilize the bones. Robert is currently on strict bed rest (23 hours/day except toileting) with his leg elevated to help reduce the swelling. His wife has applied for FMLA so she can be his caregiver during this time as he can not care completely for himself. She has some PTO that she can use to supplement her income for a couple of weeks but this will not cover her whole leave which will need to be 6-8 weeks. There are other expenses such as medical bills, equipment etc.

Anyone that knows Robert knows that he helps anyone at anytime if he's able to. He has a big heart, he does a lot of favors that save money for his family, friends and even strangers. Now is the time when Robert and his family need all of those people to return the favor if they're able to. If you're unable to contribute monetarily, please share this link. Also, please keep Robert & his family in your prayers. This has been very challenging for them, Robert is quickly becoming depressed from the pain as well as not being able to do anything expect worry about his finances and his next surgery. Words of encouragement through messanger or text would be appreciated as well.

Thank you for your consideration!

Robert went back to the orthopedic surgeons office today and Robert’s ankle is still a little too swollen for the surgeon’s liking but said it has improved. Robert is scheduled to go for surgery next Thursday 3/31. The surgeon laid out all of the approaches that are possible for the repair and said we will have to make an ultimate decision day of surgery as to what will be the best approach. Please continue to pray for Robert as he is becoming increasingly anxious and antsy to have all this behind him. Thank you 😊

Krystin took Robert to the orthopedic surgeons office today and they want to see him back in a week to evaluate again for surgery. Although the skin and fracture blisters look good, he still has too much swelling to do a successful surgery. So, here’s to hoping the swelling goes down more in the coming week. Please continue to pray for the swelling to go down.

Thanks again for your support & prayers!

Robert and his family are extremely grateful to everyone that has taken time to comment & contribute funds to keep his family on track financially. He has been overwhelmed with emotions as he sees people supporting his family through this difficult journey.
Thank you all so much for the love & support!
