Blake Anderson is a young, African-American man who was working as a security guard when two Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department deputies violently ambushed him with no justification. These deputies forcibly slammed Blake against a wall and window, placed him in a chokehold, repeatedly punched him in the face, and slammed his head into the concrete. While all this was happening, witnesses present that night desperately tried to tell deputies that Blake was working as security guard to de-escalate the situation to no avail.
Blake, who was already being treated for a prior injury to his right eye at the time, is now completely blind in that eye and has significant nerve damage to his legs and arms as a result of the deputies’ actions that night. These injuries have made it extremely difficult for Blake to make ends meet. Blake, a loving and devoted father to two small children, is responsible for taking care of his family but doing so has become 10 times harder now that he is in a constant state of pain and unable to perform the same job duties as he used to. While he continues to work security, the money he earns is not enough to support him and his family.
Since the LASD attack, Blake and his team of attorneys have filed a civil rights lawsuit against the County of Los Angeles. However, bringing a civil rights action is no small feat nor is it a quick process. While he seeks justice, Blake needs additional funds to keep his family and himself safe and secure. Any support given will help him greatly! Please donate and share widely.
