We are writing to share heartbreaking news about our cherished family member, nephew, and cousin, Lincoln Berounsky Kelley. On December 5th, Lincoln was involved in a tragic industrial accident that has left him with devastating and life‑threatening injuries. Some time after 5 a.m., he was involved in an industrial accident causing severe trauma to his jaw, neck, shoulders, arms, chest, and vital organs, including his liver, spleen, and pancreas, as well as critical injuries to his right leg and lumbar spine.
Lincoln is currently fighting for his life in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, a major trauma center providing round‑the‑clock care to critically injured patients. He is intubated, in a medically induced coma, has undergone numerous surgeries and will need additional surgeries in the future; resulting in a long, uncertain recovery in the coming days, weeks and months ahead. His condition remains extremely critical, and his family is understandably focused entirely on being at his side, traveling down to Boston everyday.
Lincoln is 23 years old, a member of the International Long Shoreman's Association Local 1908 working as a welder, fabricator, and mechanic. He is an avid snowboarder, car enthusiast, and animal lover—especially devoted to his golden girls, Maggie and Molly, who miss him very much. He graduated from Amesbury High School in 2020, where he played football his sophomore year and was a strong defenseman for the lacrosse team. He excelled in the Amesbury trades program and often spent his free time in the woodworking shop, helping younger students learn how to use equipment safely and build with care. He has a smile that lights up a room and a dry, witty sense of humor. He can fix almost anything and volunteers his time to those who call upon him when they are in need of help. Despite being 6'4", he never looks down upon anyone, is humble and has a tendency to protect the underdog.
Lincoln’s medical and rehabilitation expenses are expected to be astronomically high and somewhat unpredictable. His long‑term prognosis remains uncertain as he faces a prolonged recovery with the potential risk of permanent disability after such severe crushing injuries. His family is deeply grateful for your kindness, prayers, and support during this unimaginably difficult time. Lincoln's parents, Carrie and Scott Kelley and Robin Berounsky, invite you to come together to support Lincoln with his immediate and long‑term medical needs. Your contributions will be deposited into a dedicated account set up for Lincoln and overseen by a financial planner, to be used for his medical expenses, rehabilitation, and any other essential costs he will face on this long road ahead.
Any contribution you can offer—whether through a donation or by sharing this message with friends, family, community groups, and organizations—will make a meaningful difference for Lincoln in his hours of greatest need. If you are unable to donate but would like to send well wishes, please contact us with any messages of support and the family will send it to Carrie and Scott so they may read every note to Lincoln as he continues his fight. If you prefer to submit a get well card, please reach out for an address.
With the greatest of gratitude:
The O'Neil Family
