Holiday Meal Boxes for Youth Impacted by Foster Care
Hi, my name is Shana, founder of Silvah Lining. As someone who experienced foster care and aged out of the system, supporting and advocating for youth in and impacted by foster care is deeply personal to me.
This November, Silvah Lining is launching A Seat at the Table, a holiday giving initiative supporting youth and young adults impacted by foster care, including young parents and those transitioning into independent adulthood.
Our Goal: $5,000 = Up to 100 Food Boxes
We believe everyone deserves a seat at the table, not only a meal, but a sense of belonging, community, and knowing someone is thinking about them. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to provide up to 100 thoughtfully prepared food boxes, averaging approximately $50 each.
We will provide two types of support:
Family Pantry Meal Boxes will include shelf-stable ingredients for complete meals, breakfast items, snacks, pantry staples, and ingredients for a Caribbean-inspired meal.
Easy Eats Boxes will be designed for young people with limited or no access to a stove and will include microwave-friendly and no-cook meals, breakfast foods, snacks, and other easy-to-prepare options.
Each box will also include a 30 Minutes or Less / Meals Under $20 recipe guide with affordable recipes and ideas for making groceries stretch.
What Your Donation Can Do
$10: Breakfast, snacks, or quick meals
$25: Pantry staples and meal ingredients
$50: Approximately one complete box
$100: Approximately two boxes
$250: Approximately five boxes
Donations will support food, grocery essentials, packaging and other direct project expenses. Any savings from donated goods or discounted purchases will allow us to serve additional young people.
Why This Matters
I know firsthand that aging out of foster care does not mean you stop needing support, guidance, community, or people in your corner. Silvah Lining was created from the belief that aging out of foster care should never mean aging out of support.
