Help Me Honor My Mom’s Wishes
On July 5, 2026, my world changed forever when my mother passed away suddenly. Losing my mom has been one of the most painful experiences of my life, and I am still trying to process the reality that she is no longer here.
Anyone who truly knows me knows how much I loved my mother and how much I did for her. I would have continued to be there for her in every way possible. I never expected that, after losing her, I would also have to fight to have a voice in matters concerning her final wishes.
Unfortunately, there have been circumstances within my family that have left me feeling completely shut out. I have not been included in arrangements surrounding my mother’s celebration of life, and despite reaching out multiple times and being told that I would be contacted when my mother’s ashes were ready, I have still received no communication.
There are also serious concerns surrounding my mother’s life insurance beneficiary designation. I have documentation, including emails, that I believe supports what my mother intended regarding the beneficiary. Because of these circumstances, I feel that I have no choice but to seek legal guidance to make sure my mother’s wishes are properly addressed.
The last thing I ever wanted was for something like this to become a legal matter. I have tried repeatedly to communicate, to resolve things peacefully, and to find a way for everyone to come together as a family. Unfortunately, those efforts have not been successful.
What hurts most is feeling as though I have been denied the opportunity to properly say goodbye to my own mother. When she passed away in Ohio, I was trying desperately to get there. I was told that I could not come alone and needed to turn around and get someone to accompany me. That delayed my ability to get to my mom, and then I was later told to turn around and not come. As a daughter who loved her mother deeply, that is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
I am not sharing this to attack anyone or create more division. I am sharing it because I genuinely need help. I am now facing the possibility of going through probate court and retaining an attorney so that I can make sure my mother’s wishes are respected and that I have the opportunity to be heard.
I have never taken advantage of my mother. I never charged her rent. I never treated her as a full-time babysitter. I was there because she was my mom, and I loved her. I have documentation and evidence that I believe will be important as I move forward.
I do not like asking people for money. I do not like asking for help, But this is something I cannot simply walk away from. This is about my mother, her wishes, and being able to have some peace knowing that I did everything I could to honor her.
If you know how much I loved my mom, then you understand why this means so much to me.
If you are able to donate toward my legal expenses, no matter the amount, I would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution will help me get the legal representation I need to navigate this situation.
If you are unable to donate, I completely understand. Please consider sharing this fundraiser, saying a prayer for my family, and praying that everything can ultimately be resolved peacefully and that my mother’s wishes are honored.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, supported me, prayed for me, and shown kindness during one of the hardest times of my life! Your love and support mean more to me than I could ever put into words.
I am doing this because I loved my mom, and I will continue to fight to honor her. ❤️
