My mother’s home was destroyed — the roof over her kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom is completely gone. All her furniture and mattress are soaked and ruined. My husband’s home was also badly damaged, with the roof torn off by the wind.
During the storm, my family had to run out into the cold rain and strong winds to find shelter as the hurricane tore everything apart. They are now sleeping at a church with others who have lost their homes. There is no phone connection, no food, and nothing to drink.
I haven’t been able to reach my grandmother, and despite asking around and searching online, I still haven’t heard anything from her. Not knowing if she’s safe has been one of the hardest parts.
It’s so devastating to feel helpless, knowing that even if I travel down there right now, there’s very little I can do on my own. That’s why I’m trying to gather enough materials and supplies here so that when I do go down, I can contribute something — even the smallest bit — toward rebuilding.
I’m not asking for much — just a little help to get them started again. My goal is to build at least a small one-bedroom home where they can stay safely and have some comfort while they rebuild their lives.
Any contribution, whether it’s funds, building materials, furniture, or even basic supplies, will mean more than words can express.
So many people are suffering right now, and if I’m blessed enough to receive help, I’ll also do my best to support others in the same situation.
Thank you for reading, sharing, or donating. Every bit of kindness brings us one step closer to rebuilding our lives.
UPDATES!!!
*On Tuesday, November 4th*
I wanted to share an update about my grandmother. I still haven’t been able to speak with her directly because the phone lines are still down in her area of Jamaica. However, a few days ago, I heard from my cousin, who said that one of my aunts was able to go see her. She said that my grandmother is safe.
I don’t know her full condition yet, but I’m so grateful and relieved just to hear that she’s alive. 🙏🏽 Despite everything that’s been lost, I hold on to faith and gratitude for each small piece of good news. Thank you to everyone who continues to pray and support my family — your kindness truly means the world.
On Thursday November 6*
The kids are now staying with their sister and grandmother, which gives me so much comfort knowing they’re not alone. It’s been really hard for them, but they’re surrounded by love and doing their best to stay strong through everything that’s happened.

just want to thank everyone who has donated and supported my family during this difficult time. Because of your kindness, we were able to buy food and supplies to help our families in Jamaica.
Right now, we can’t travel down there, but we know that helping them get what they need most — like food — is the best way to provide comfort and relief from afar.
We are so grateful for every prayer, donation, and message of encouragement. Your support means more than words can say. Thank you for standing with us and helping us bring hope to our family after Hurricane Melissa.
On Sunday, November 30th*
I just heard from my grandmother for the very first time since the hurricane. Hearing her voice brought me so much relief and peace after days of worry. I am truly grateful she is alive and safe.
Thank you to everyone who has been praying, donating, and supporting my family during this time. Your kindness has helped us stay strong through all the uncertainty.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
