Hey everyone,

As many of you know, I love bringing cars back to life. Recently, I picked up a 2015 Volvo XC60 at an auction for a steal, knowing it would be a project but excited to put my technician skills to work.

I immediately jumped in and completely overhauled the top end—sorting out the PCV system, a fresh timing belt, water pump, and VVT cam components. Unfortunately, the car came with a hidden history. Looking deeper into its past records, it appears a previous owner skipped oil changes for an astonishing 24,000 miles.

While fresh auction oil temporarily masked the underlying damage when I picked it up, a steep hill climb on my first week home pushed the engine past its breaking point. The low oil pressure light flashed on, and despite pulling over immediately and managing the load ever since, the damage was done. The bottom-end bearings took the brunt of that starvation event, and my recent oil change confirmed the worst: fine metal glitter dust in the oil pan.

I’ve done everything possible to nurse this inline-5 along on short, gentle trips under 2,500 RPM, but the reality is catching up. To truly save this car and keep it on the road safely, I need to source and swap in a healthy used engine.

I have the tools, the technical experience, and the workspace to do the heavy lifting and execute the engine swap myself—I just need a little help securing the funds to purchase the replacement motor. Any contribution to help me get this project across the finish line means the world to me.

Thank you so much for your support, your shares, and for helping me give this Volvo a second lease on life!
