Since the start of 2026, life has been a whirlwind for Jen and her family. What began as a routine mammogram quickly turned into a life‑altering diagnosis. Healthy, strong, and with minimal family risk factors, Jen suddenly found herself navigating a diagnosis of breast cancer. After just a few short months of appointments and consultations, she underwent major surgery on March 9 — and truly kicked that surgery’s ass. Her care team remains optimistic, and the cancer that was found in a nearby lymph node is being managed with oral medication.

Even with that victory, the physical and emotional effects of such a serious diagnosis don’t disappear overnight. Jen continues to attend follow‑up appointments, treatment visits, and physical therapy, all while trying to find space to heal in the midst of everyday life with 3 young kids. The bills continue to arrive, and the weight of recovery is still very real.

Just weeks before her surgery, her husband Jeff was unexpectedly laid off from his longtime job at the brewery — the job that provided the family’s health insurance. With surgery already scheduled, they had no choice but to continue paying out of pocket to keep the same plan. Jeff continues to actively search for new work, but the cost of maintaining adequate coverage for a family of five remains overwhelming.

Jen and Jeff are not in dire financial straits, but the strain is still very real. As Jen continues to heal, the pressure to return to work weighs heavily on her. Anyone in healthcare knows how emotionally demanding the job is even when you’re feeling your best.  Asking for help is never easy, but with gentle encouragement, they have allowed me to share this story with you to ease any part of the financial burden and allow additional space for healing.

Your kindness and support will make a meaningful difference. Every contribution helps lighten the load and gives this family the gift of time, stability, and room to recover.

It’s a vulnerable moment to share their needs, but many are eager to help. Please use this space to do so and, if needed, share their story privately with others who might wish to support them. Avoid posting directly on social media to respect their privacy.

Thank you so much for your love and support!
