This is a call to support Felix Murillo, a Costa Rican artist that has dedicated his entire existence to the perseverance of the creative process and infusing the world with Art. I have had the honor to witness his process for the past 22 years, and observe his progression as an artist and person. His humble beginnings started in Limon living on an old converted school bus next to the ocean. I met him during his transition from the mountains of Monte Verde to Jaco Beach, Puntarenas, where his career took off. He has had a generous career path in luxury hotel exhibitions such as resident artist for Four Seasons Hotel, Los Suenos Resort & Marina, Villa Caletas, amongst others. His art collectors span all over the world. All that meet him can see his existence is to live through his art and creation.
On May 17, 2022 life took a turn, out of a freak accident a fire blazed through his studio in the mountains. He lost everything - years of artistic process, his paintings, his art supplies, clothing, and entire home was consumed by the fire.
We are asking for donations for him and his wife to start from scratch to recover their shelter and slowly rebuild their home, which they built piece by piece as resources came into their life. Their home was a reflection of peserverance and dedication. As they shared with me, they had to befriend the jungle to build what they could- and had finally gotten to a place to live there when now it was tragically lifted to flames.
The first step is to clean up and prepare the land to rebuild so we are asking to raise $15,000,000. Phase 2 is the building of a new studio space to house them again which will be another $25,000.
