Help My Mom Rebuild After Another Flood
My mom is facing something no homeowner should ever have to go through twice.
At 65 years old, my mom lives on Social Security and does her best to make ends meet. She has always been the kind of person who puts everyone else before herself. She is constantly thinking about how she can help someone else, checking on the people she loves, and giving whatever she can—even when she doesn’t have much to give.
Her home has always been more than just a house. For many people, it has been a safe place to land. She raised many children under that roof, most of whom were not even her own. She opened her home to foster children and welcomed people who needed somewhere safe, a warm meal, or simply someone who cared.
That is the kind of person my mom is.
She has spent so much of her life taking care of other people that she rarely thinks about herself. She is usually the first person to ask what someone else needs and the last person to ask for help. That’s why our family wants to come together now and be there for her.
In August 2022, our community was devastated by a major flood, and my mom lost all of the ductwork in her home. After everything she went through trying to recover and rebuild, she was finally able to move forward.
Now, in August 2026, Campbells Creek has flooded again, and my mom is facing the same heartbreaking situation all over again.
The new flooding has caused her to lose the ductwork in her home, leaving her without a way to properly heat or cool the house. Without functioning ductwork, her home is currently unlivable. The home that has sheltered and cared for so many people over the years is now a place she cannot safely live.
This time, she also doesn’t have access to the resources that helped her recover from the previous flood. Replacing the ductwork throughout her home is a major expense, and living on Social Security, it is simply not something she can afford on her own.
Our goal is to raise $7,500 to help cover the cost of replacing the damaged ductwork and getting her heating and cooling system functioning again. Every dollar raised will go toward this essential repair and helping make her home livable again.
Our family has already watched her rebuild once after losing so much in the 2022 flood. Watching her face this all over again is incredibly difficult. She has spent years opening her doors to others, caring for children who needed her, and putting the needs of other people ahead of her own.
Now, we want to open our hearts and our hands for her.
