Imagine standing in your shower, or cooking dinner, laughing at a joke… and then suddenly hitting the ground, confused and in pain, with no warning. That’s my life and reality since 2020.

I live with tonic-clonic seizures/epilepsy that come without notice, at least once a week. I’ve undergone multiple surgeries and tried every type of medication—yet nothing has stopped them. Every fall risks serious injury because I do not even know that I am falling. Every day, I live trapped by fear.

Beyond the physical danger is a loneliness that’s hard to describe. I try to keep a foot in the "real world" by taking one college class per semester, but even that feels like a battlefield. While other students are making friends, grabbing coffee, or joining study groups, I am looking for the nearest exit or a soft place to land. It’s impossible to build a social life when you’re terrified of having a medical emergency in front of a room full of strangers. I’ve become an observer of a life I’m supposed to be living, watching from the sidelines because I can’t risk being "the person who fell" without someone there to help me.

I can’t drive. I can’t cook safely. I can’t even be home alone. My family lives in constant worry, watching for the next crash. I can feel their eyes on me, even when they try to hide it.

A seizure alert service dog could give me the seconds I need to protect myself—enough to sit, brace, and avoid disaster. It could warn me, stay with me during a seizure, and alert my family if I can’t.

Service dogs cost over $20,000, and insurance covers nothing. I cannot afford this alone—but with your help, I can finally reclaim some independence, safety, and hope.

Please consider donating or sharing my story. Every dollar brings me closer to living without constant fear.

Thank you, Gabriel.

No puedo conducir.
Gracias, Gabriel.
