My name is Steven Luitjens. I started playing rugby in spring 2022 at Kennesaw State University and fell in love with the sport. I have played 4 seasons now (2 Spring, 2 Fall, and training the past two summers with Renegades RFC) and will be playing my 5th in Picton, New Zealand with the Waitohi RFC from January till August 2024.
I decided early on that I wanted to better myself through the sport. Strong work ethic and dedication to the team are core values of mine. I joined the officer team at KSU as Match Secreatry and joined the Atlanta Renegades to train in KSU's off season. From day one I realized I could never be quite strong enough or fast enough or plan out a play fast enough because there is always better. There is always that extra percent that you can give to better yourself. I strive to be the best man I can be on and off the pitch. Grateful for my progress but never satisfied.
Going on this journey to New Zealand is an amazing opportunity to put this mentality to the test and grow into the type of man I want to be. While I am in New Zealand I will be training/playing, taking a full course load of online classes at KSU, and working a job in the local area.
Any donations go straight to supporting my journey abroad. Mostly food, but also to rent, and helping me find a mode of transportation.
