Help Me Keep Moving Forward — Not Backward
My name is Christopher, and asking for help isn’t easy for me. I’m currently working my way out of homelessness while staying at the Durham Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter in Durham, North Carolina. I’m doing everything I can to rebuild my life the right way—one day at a time.
Over the past year, I’ve fought hard for my sobriety, returned to work, enrolled at Wake Tech to continue my education, and worked to become the father my children deserve. I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m a long way from where I used to be.
Right now, one thing threatens the progress I’ve worked so hard for: my transportation.
My car isn’t a luxury to me. It’s a lifeline. It gets me to work, helps me continue my education, and allows me to be there for my daughters. Unfortunately, my vehicle has needed several repairs, and the financial burden of keeping it running has become more than I can manage alone.
There was a time when addiction took almost everything from me—my stability, relationships, precious time with my children, and eventually a place to call home. Today, I’m sober, working, going to school, and fighting my way out of a homeless shelter toward a stable and independent life.

I’m not asking anyone to fix my life for me. I’m asking for a little help so I can continue fixing it myself.
Every donation will help me keep reliable transportation so I can continue getting to work, attending school, taking care of my responsibilities, and being present for my children.
