"You were assigned this Mountain to show others it could be moved!"  The quote Carly wrote on her mirror the day she came home from the hospital after her diagnosis and first treatments for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.   She lived her entire life including her nine months as a cancer patient by this motto.    She  was either placing mountains in her own path to climb by setting huge goals for herself, or she was climbing and moving the ones that were set before her by life itself.   She never slowed down or let those obstacles defeat her.   

As I face the mountain before me, the pinnacle of long distance triathlon, the World Championship in Kona Hawaii,  there is no doubt that Carly is the reason that I find myself here.   Last year I decided to race Ironman Chattanooga as a fundraiser for the Carly Faye Foundation and make my return to long distance triathlon after a 7 year hiatus.   It was a special weekend as it was the 5 year anniversary of Carly's death and I was able to raise almost $12,000 for the foundation and GLO!   When I crossed the finish line with a 1 hour PR and 12th place in my age group, to find out there were 12 slots to the World Championships in Kona, I knew Carly had been the wind at my back!

The GLO program provides a day of pampering, makeover, and photo shoots for girls that are receiving cancer treatments.   It has been a huge success in Ohio where we started the program.   The feedback, smiles and joy that I have witnessed from the girls has proven to me that Carly's vision has become a reality!   Our goal now at the Carly Faye Foundation is to climb another mountain but we need your help.    We want to expand our program and be able to reach girls not just in Ohio but across the nation!  https://carlyfayefoundation.org/
