Hello friends, family and strangers. This is my unbiological sister, Gini. She is a wife to Dirk, a mother to Aubrey, Spencer and Paul, and fur mama to a small herd of indoor pets. Most importantly though, she is a follower of Christ. She is a homemaker and the captain of their home ship, The Winget Compound. Gini keeps things running like a machine regardless of her chronic pain brought on by fibromyalgia and pcos. Her husband Dirk works tirelessly managing multiple restaurants to financially support his family. 3 months ago, Gini decided that she is definitely done having children and had an IUD procedure done, then went along with her normal every day life. At a routine appointment, something was discovered on her breast that led to a biopsy and a breast cancer diagnosis. It turns out that the IUD is a blessing and a curse. It fed the cancer that began to grow rapidly, but in doing so, it actually made the cancer easy to find quickly. It cost her a total of 2K out of pocket to have it put in and then removed within three months due to how quickly it was making the cancer grow. The procedure to have it removed took a couple of weeks, which caused the cancer to grow even more. Her outcome right now is very good but she has to have double mastectomies and reconstruction surgery on September 5th, then they need to confirm that nothing has spread to her lymph nodes. Her only viable support for care, keeping the house running and taking care of her kids, is her husband. He cannot possibly do her job and his job at the same time, so he will be forced to take time off from his job, unpaid, to care for his family. They just bought a home within the last two years and are unable to get any kind of mortgage relief at this time, but it is something that they are looking in to and hoping for as an option further down the road.
Without Dirk's help, Gini will not be able to recover like she needs to, and her children deserve a healthy mother.
