Our Uncle Jerry is a 76-year old man of Cuban descent who has spent the last 15 years of his life caring for others, especially our father. For years, Jerry was our father's primary caregiver, supporting him through illness and making sure he was never alone. Sadly, our father passed away last year, and with his passing, Jerry lost not only his closest companion, but also his only source of financial support. My brothers and I did our best to help Jerry with his living expenses for several months, but when the lease expired, we were unable to renew it for him. Since then, Jerry has been displaced, staying at various locations and without a stable place to call home. Recently, Jerry became ill and received the devastating news that he has Stage 3 colon cancer. He has already undergone surgery to remove the tumor and now faces six months of chemotherapy in order to put this in remission. His treatments need to be in Daytona Beach, where his doctors and treatment center are located. The hospital was able to help him secure insurance for his medical care, but Jerry still has no income and no home. As a green card holder, his access to resources in limited, and he is in urgent need of support to cover his basic living expenses. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward Jerry's housing, transportation, food, and daily needs while he undergoes treatment and works toward recovery. Jerry is a kind, gentle soul who would give you the shirt off his back. He has always put others first, giving everything to help his brother and family. Now, he needs some help in return. Any support you can offer would mean the world to Jerry and to all of us who care about him. Thank you for considering a donation and for helping Jerry find hope and stability during this incredibly challenging time.
