The Norwich 4-H Backers is a non-profit organization committed to supporting local youth engaged in 4-H livestock projects. Our mission is to provide assistance to young participants and their families who dedicate substantial time and resources to these endeavors, which demand significant commitments during the spring and summer seasons.
Annually, young participants are afforded the chance to recover a portion of their expenses via the premium livestock auction held during the county fair. At this auction, patrons have the opportunity to contribute funds directly to the youth, aiding in the project-related costs. Additionally, these contributions can be designated towards future livestock projects.
As participation in livestock projects continue to grow in the Norwich area, there is a need for us to increase funding for these premium sales from our community to support the number of youth we now have benefitting from the sales. We aim to foster the growth and development of youth within our community by providing local businesses and individuals the opportunity to contribute a pool of funds that will be used to support the premium sales where our youth participate in Kingman and Harper counties.
How the Norwich 4-H Backers pool of funds works:
- Local businesses and residents contribute any amount to the Norwich 4-H Backers fund.
- This pool of funds is divided proportionally between the Kingman and Harper County premium livestock sales, based on participation numbers in each sale.
- The 4-H Backers Committee attends each sale and bids on animals to ensure each youth receives fair and equitable financial support for their projects each year.
- Donors will be recognized by name at the premium sale and through print and social media following the sale.
The Norwich 4-H Backers have committed to two basic guiding principles:
- Everything we do is in the spirit of support for the 4-H livestock youth in our community.
- Transparency is critical to our success. Donors will receive a report of the total funds raised and a list of those expenditures of those funds following the county fairs.
In the previous year, through the generous support of our community, we successfully raised approximately $30,000 to support the endeavors of our youth participants. This year, we aim to surpass our previous achievement by setting a new fundraising target of $35,000. With your continued support, we aspire to make an even greater impact on the lives of these young individuals, enabling them to pursue their passions and dreams within the realm of 4-H livestock projects.
