Darsha and her family has been struggling for quite some time, but nothing like what has been happening since her husband passed away in May of 2020! He suffered from drug addiction and mental health issues for years. In March of 2020, immediately after covid hit, he was in need of serious medical attention & could not receive it & began self medicating. He passed from a drug overdose 2 months later. Darsha also lost her job due to covid & they only receive $400 per month in social security. Thankfully they have been blessed with a very understanding landlord or they would be homeless. She has also applied for assistance for rent & utilities and was approved, which is one less thing she will have to worry about. They were without a car for sometime before her dad gifted fhen a car. Sadly the family is now facing transmission issues. They have doctors appointments, band practice, school & many other things they need to do in that car. Their washing machine went out about a month ago & without money they have been struggling to get to the laundry mat. Darsa has also applied for foodstamps & has not yet been approved, but they are in need of some serious groceries as she has 5 children to feed. Darsha is a full time student and this is her 3rd semester at school. The additional stress has made it hard for her to focus on her studies as well as homeschooling her 12 year old son.
