Mel Gilman Jr. proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps as an avionics electronics technician. He spent many years as a volunteer firefighter and first responder. Today, Mel is a disabled veteran battling stage 4 colorectal cancer.
Mel is an amazing man with a heart of gold. He’s always willing to help anyone even if it means he goes without. He has spent his entire life helping others in any way he can with nothing expected in return. He’s a selfless, hardworking, family man that needs the communities help. It’s our turn to show him the love and support he has shown everyone else throughout the years.

In the past 2 months he’s been hospitalized 3 times. His care team and appointments are an hour to two hours away from their home. He applied for his VA disability, a year and a half ago and still hasn’t received a decision. With the rapid increase in appointments, medication co-pays, and travel, it’s become a huge financial burden for him & his family.
