Hello, kind world.
My name is Athraa, and I am from Gaza. I had a small family that lived in safety and peace. My greatest dream was to raise my children to be educated individuals who would benefit my country and become the very best of people. I owned a beautiful home and a school with 1,000 students learning Arabic and many other subjects.
Then, suddenly and without warning, a violent war struck. In less than an hour, it snatched away all those dreams and aspirations. It instilled in us a deep fear and anguish that cast aside our former hopes, replacing them with dreams that would never have crossed the minds of even the humblest of souls. Our dream became simply to secure a small tent and a modest water source—a place for shelter and to meet our basic needs. All other dreams have come to a halt; even education has faded from our memories, and we have become...
We have reached a point where we simply want to coexist amidst war, famine, oppression, and profound fear. I place great hope in you—the wider world—to stand with us and help us recover everything we have lost to this savage war that has stripped us of all that was beautiful. You are our beautiful world, and we look to you for a gesture of solidarity that can bring something beautiful back to my children and my family.
