Building a Dream That Builds Others
When I first stepped into the world of beauty, I didn’t have much — not time, not money, and definitely not resources. What I *did* have was a dream. As a single mom, I’ve had to balance everything — raising my child, keeping food on the table, and somehow finding time to chase a career that I love. It wasn’t easy, and there were moments I wanted to give up. But every struggle I faced taught me something bigger: that dreams are still possible when you have the right support.
That’s why I’m starting this next chapter to create the kind of space I wish I had when I started. My goal is to become an accredited Apprenticeship program and cosmetology instructor and open a program that gives people like me especially single parents, inner-city teens, and low-income families a real chance to learn, grow, and build a career in the beauty industry without being buried by tuition costs or life’s barriers.
I’ve seen firsthand how powerful cosmetology can be. It’s not just about hair, nails, or makeup it’s about *transformation.* It’s about helping someone look in the mirror and see their worth again. For many, this industry is more than a job it’s a way to express creativity, gain independence, and provide for their families. But too often, people are priced out of that opportunity before they ever get a chance to begin.
Through free and affordable programs, I want to change that. I envision an apprenticeship and training center that offers both professional education and mentorship a place where students learn real skills, gain confidence, and receive the certifications they need to step into a salon or start their own business.
I’ve worked hard to prepare for this mission. I wrote my first book that is currently in the editing stages, I’ve started my own Vegan product intense moisturizing shampoo line and I am now a licensed North Carolina Natural Hair Care Specialist and Instructor, a California Cosmetologist, a Certified Hair Loss Practitioner (medically certified by the American Medical Certification Association) and US Trichology Institute and most recently, I obtained my Hair Restoration Surgeon certificate through the American Society of Aesthetics and Hair Surgeons. Head Lab & Oxidation Management through Mail C Academy. Each certification represents not just my dedication to the craft, but also my commitment to empowering others through it.
This fundraiser isn’t just about opening a school it’s about opening doors. I want to build something bigger than myself a community-driven training center that changes lives, one person, one skill, and one success story at a time.
Your support will help me turn this vision into reality to cover accreditation costs, apprenticeship program, California Instructors license (application fees), secure my in person Scalp Micro Pigmentation training in Miami with Taylor Perry, to also secure my current space, purchase smart devices equipment, and create scholarships for those interested in the same trainings, but most importantly secure a home form me and my one year old. Baby Ocean. We are currently unhoused until the funds are available by the state two to three weeks. Together, we can give people the chance to build a future they’re proud of.
Because when you invest in someone’s education, you’re not just changing their life you’re changing generations.
