My name is Nourihan Abu Jaba, and I am the founder and heart of the puppet troupe “Zahret Amal” – Flower of Hope.
But this group is not just an entertainment show… it is a dream born from pain, nourished by hope, and grown with love.
I founded this troupe in honor of three little girls – my sister’s daughters – who were born with brain atrophy. They had the deepest impact on my life. I named the group after them and made them a symbol of every child in need of a touch of joy.
For five years, I have devoted myself to this project. I used puppets and the magic of storytelling to draw smiles on children’s faces.
We visited institutions, charities, hospitals, schools, and kindergartens.
We performed at “Ana wa Tefly” Association, the Elderly Support Society, Al-Rantisi Hospital for cancer patients, Al-Wafaa Charity, Al-Amal Orphan Institute, and various centers for children with disabilities.
Our mission was the same everywhere: to heal hearts and bring smiles.
But war stole everything.
I lost my sister and her daughters. Dreams were buried beneath the rubble.
Still, I did not lose hope.
Today, my goal is to continue the dream I began for them… to bring happiness to children in their name… to restore joy in the midst of sorrow, and light in the heart of devastation.
In the past, our troupe included 12 puppets, basic tools, a speaker, and a collection of toys.
But during the war, seven puppets were stolen, along with the speaker, most of our tools, and even my personal home equipment.
Today, I work with a team of six talented young women graduates from various fields: four perform in costume, alongside a gifted illustrator and photographer.
We all work with passion and sincerity — but we are struggling financially.
Our troupe needs:
- Transportation costs
- Small gifts for the children
- Replacement of stolen puppets and tools
- A modest income for the hardworking team
Until now, everything was funded from my own efforts and resources — because I believe that one smile from a child can light the world.
But today… I need your support.
We want to return to the institutions, the schools, the homes, and the shelters.
We want to bring joy back. We want to paint hope. We want to heal broken hearts.
We want to tell the world that kindness cannot be defeated… and that Flower of Hope can bloom again — even from under the rubble.
