Our family is coming together during an incredibly difficult and unexpected time.
Donovan is currently hospitalized following a serious medical crisis and has a long road ahead of him. Out of respect for Donovan and his privacy, we aren’t sharing the details of his medical condition publicly.
If you know Donovan, you know he is a Marine through and through. He has always been someone who takes care of his people, shows up when he’s needed, and does whatever it takes to get the job done. Right now, it’s our turn to show up for him.
While Donovan focuses on getting better, his family is working to keep things as stable and normal as possible for his children. The everyday expenses don’t stop during a crisis—school registration, sports fees, clothing, food, activities, and all the other costs that come with raising kids.
Travel has also become a significant and ongoing expense. Donovan’s mother lives approximately an hour and a half from the hospital, requiring regular trips back and forth to be with him while still managing everything at home.
His brother, Rubin, is also traveling across the country to be by his side and help the family navigate everything that comes with a crisis like this. Their mother is deaf, so Rubin also helps with communication and accessibility while making sure she is able to fully understand information from the hospital and stay involved in Donovan’s care.
Between airfare, gas, travel, expenses for his children, and the many unexpected costs that continue to arise, it has become more than our family can comfortably manage on our own.
