Hello, folks, I've published this fundraiser to ask for help in hard times. Here's what's happened.
In early July, I had an episode at work that involved chest pain. This turned out to be a "spontaneous pneumothorax"; in short, part of my left lung collapsed due to a surface weakness. There are some minor aftereffects, but they're improving with time and effort. This has led, however, to some medical bills I can't currently afford.
Before this happened I was working full-time as a nurse. Following the ER visit, my employer moved me to PRN status so I could accommodate follow-up appointments (I did not have FMLA available, nor was this situation applicable to short term disability).
Being on PRN gave me some flexibility, but stepping away from full time also meant losing health insurance and a regular paycheck while I took care of immediate issues.
There is good news though! I'm happy to say I have found a new, full time job and have put the immediate medical problem behind me. This job begins next week. It is a way forward, but I still need help getting from now to the first paycheck from my new employer.
At the moment, I don't have quite enough money for rent, food, or gasoline to get me to work. My rent is $1,300, and I estimate that I need about $500 for one month of basic food, transportation, and utility bills. I have begun paying the medical bills as I've been able (that is the remaining $1,000).
I'm hoping, with your help, to raise an approximate $3,000 to get through this transitional phase. Notably, that is a "stretch goal"; what is most important right now is fuel and food.
I know that times are difficult for us all. We each have our own bills, worries, and challenges. I wouldn't be asking for help if I had another reasonable way through. I've utilized what emergency resources my community offers. While I bless them for what help they have been, this is the remaining shortfall, so here I am.
I remain hopeful throughout.
