In September 2025, we moved into the house we planned to stay for the rest of our lives. With its old brick charm and modern updates, it was everything we had dreamed of.
More than just a house, we wanted it to be a refuge. That dream came true when we became foster parents and first welcomed children for respite care in February, and then accepting a precious infant for full-time placement in March. The memories made in that short time will stay with us forever.
On July 27th, an EF-3 tornado swept through our community. A 350-year-old White Oak tree came down directly onto our house, and a week later, it was officially declared a total loss. We are heartbroken to say the least. Not just for our own home and belongings, but for all of our neighbors who suffered severe damage during the storm.
As we start the long process of rebuilding, we want to honor what was here. We are salvaging the original bricks from the house to line our new driveway as a lasting tribute for us, previous homeowners, and neighbors who walked by every day. A storm can take down a structure, but it can’t erase the memories made inside it or the strength of this community.
