Help Me Regain Financial and Medical Stability
My name is Carlos, and I am asking for help during a difficult period of financial and medical instability.
I live independently while managing mental-health disabilities, including complex PTSD and depression, along with physical health concerns such as asthma that has recently worsened with a persistent cough. I am doing what I can to stay stable, manage my health, maintain my apartment, and continue moving toward greater independence.
At the moment, I have $3,201.24 in outstanding personal debt across medical bills, a checking-account overdraft, a credit card, and buy-now-pay-later balances.
My current balances are:
Medical bills: $267.56
Huntington checking overdraft: $366.73
Credit card: $570.58
Klarna: $123.41
Affirm: $1,872.96
My rent, utilities, phone service, and ComEd are currently being covered through support assistance, which has helped prevent my situation from becoming more serious. I am grateful for that help, but these remaining debts are still my responsibility and continue to place pressure on my limited finances.
I have also received approximately $1,200 in emergency assistance from Trilogy, with repayment terms still being clarified. Because those essential expenses are currently supported, I am not presenting them as immediately overdue. Instead, this fundraiser is focused on the balances that remain unresolved.
Funds raised will be prioritized toward:
Paying overdue medical bills.
Clearing my checking-account overdraft and preventing additional fees.
Reducing my credit-card balance.
Paying down my Klarna and Affirm balances.
Creating a small amount of financial breathing room so I can avoid falling further behind while continuing to work toward stability.
I do not have a dependable family or personal financial safety net to turn to when emergencies happen. I have had to rely on formal support systems while learning how to manage independent living and rebuild stability.
I am not asking one person to solve everything. Any amount helps, and sharing the fundraiser is also meaningful support.
I have been through difficult periods before, but I have not given up. I am continuing to work with my support team, manage my health, and take steps toward a more stable future. I have been down lately, but I am trying to get back up and keep moving forward.
My current documented debt is $3,201.24, and my fundraising goal is $3,750 to account for processing fees, changing balances, and a limited emergency cushion while these debts are addressed.
I plan to provide reasonable progress updates and redacted proof of major expenses where appropriate, while protecting private medical, banking, and identifying information.
Thank you for reading, sharing, or extending a hand.
