On 7/21/25 in Rochester NY, by 590North near Exit 10, a young stray orange tabby kitten was thrown from a moving vehicle. He was struck by 2 vehicles and tumbled across 3 lanes of traffic during rush hour. It’s a miracle he survived. I stopped and picked up the cat off the side of the highway, and brought it to Rochester Emergency Veterinary animal hospital. He is alive, but in critical condition for the next 48 hours while we monitor him. It is a very sweet cat, and we decided to name him Lucky-considering the circumstances.
Update #2: The cat made it out of surgery. Lucky has bruised lungs, fortunately no broken bones and they didn’t see internal bleeding yet. His skin was detached from his jaw so he had his jaw sutured. His front 2 teeth were fractured in the fall. He will most likely need to get them removed eventually. His back-legs are shaky but he’s taking a few shaky steps. We got him a rabies shot and bloodwork up. Unfortunately the vet found he had fleas and ear mites. That was treated. His road rash has clotted well and stopped bleeding. Patches of hair is missing in some parts. No microchip was found. We are fostering him and have him his own room to heal and quarantine in (since we don’t know his history). He’s resting now. We named him Lucky (middle name is charm). Attached is his picture, and vet breakdown. If you want to donate to help cover ER costs, any help is greatly appreciated. If anyone has any information please please reach out to me. Thank you.
