On December 18, 2025, my father, John Henry Bravo-Roque, was detained by ICE in Austin, Texas, upon arriving for a scheduled meeting with his case manager. He is originally from Camaguëy, Cuba. He came here on a banana boat, enduring treacherous waters and sharks. Fleeing oppression and poverty in his home country, he sought refuge in the “land of the free,” but has been sleeping on bunk beds at Don Hutto detention center, 40 minutes away from his house instead.
John Henry has been in the United States for well over 20 years on a work permit. He has worked diligently to restore houses in his community to reach their full potential by providing painting and contracting services. He started his own business this past year in a new city with his wonderful girlfriend and son. He has three kids named Zhané (23), Memphis (21), and Ethan (8).
Please help my family raise the funds for his legal defense and bring him home! There should be no reason to rip apart hard-working families and remove their rights to the Constitution and the “American Dream.” We are all entitled to freedom, liberty, and justice, and no one is illegal on stolen land!
