💔 A Life Interrupted: Help Lakylia Taylor Find Hope Again
My name is Tarerus Moore , and I’m asking for your help to support a young woman whose life has been torn apart—Lakylia Sheila Taylor, just 19 years old.
Lakylia isn’t a headline. She’s a daughter who texts her mom “I love you” every night. She’s the big sister who braids her little cousin’s hair and sings along to old R&B songs in the car. She’s the friend who remembers your birthday without needing a reminder. She’s the girl who dreamed of becoming a nurse, who wanted to help people heal.
But now, she’s sitting in a jail cell, facing charges that could steal her entire future.
🌪️ What Happened
On a quiet afternoon in May, Lakylia and her younger brother Dejuan went to Foot Locker in Eastpointe, Michigan. What should have been a simple outing turned into a nightmare.
Dejuan, just 21 but emotionally younger in many ways, got into a confrontation with four grown men. Within moments, he was on the ground, pinned, helpless, and being beaten. Lakylia saw her brother—her responsibility, her heart—being hurt. She panicked. She ran to her car, grabbed a weapon, and tried to stop the violence.
She didn’t go there looking for trouble. She didn’t want anyone to get hurt. She just wanted her brother to live.
Now, she’s being charged with second-degree murder, assault, and more. Her bond is set at $2.5 million, far beyond what her family can afford.
🧡 Who Lakylia Is
Lakylia is a hero in the eyes of her family. She’s the one who always steps up. She’s the one who puts others first. She’s the girl who stayed up late helping Dejuan with his job applications, who made sure he had clean clothes, who told him every day that he mattered.
She’s also a teenager—with dreams, with fears, with a heart full of love. She wanted to go to college, to work in healthcare, to build a life where she could give back. She writes poetry about strength and survival. She’s the kind of person who cries during sad movies and laughs too loud at her own jokes.
She didn’t deserve this. She deserves a second chance.
