The reality for these baby cows is unforgiving. Cull calves who are too weak to be hauled to auction are shipped directly to distant calf slaughterhouses, where they are forced through extremely cruel means to “walk” to their deaths.
The calves who do make it to auction arrive weak, terrified, and with severely compromised immune systems. For babies in this condition, it is no longer a question of if they will get sick — but when. Without immediate, aggressive medical intervention the moment Chance is rescued, he will not survive.
While I am prepared to provide his long‑term shelter, I cannot face this guaranteed medical crisis alone.
