Dear Friends,
I'm reaching out to you in a time of great need and vulnerability. As a veteran who proudly served in the US Navy during the Lebanon conflict, my dedication to our country runs deep. However, I find myself grappling with a daunting health challenge that has left me feeling overwhelmed and alone.
Despite my relentless efforts, the VA has denied my crucial eye surgeries, insisting on impractical travel distances for appointments and procedures. The gravity of my situation lies in the necessity of remaining flat after surgery to ensure the transplant's success, rendering long journeys nearly impossible. Despite appealing their decisions multiple times, I've been met with denials, pushing me towards seeking care through my wife's insurance, which we can scarcely afford amidst rising living costs.
With surgeries looming, I am faced with upfront costs totaling $5,000, with the surgical staff pressing for immediate payment. Neither the VA nor the hospital offers coverage, leaving me with an insurmountable financial burden. This weight bears heavily on me as I grapple with the uncertainty of my future and the looming specter of vision loss.
Your support during this dark hour would mean everything to me. Every contribution, regardless of size, is a beacon of hope, a lifeline in my journey towards regaining sight and reclaiming my livelihood. Thank you, from the depths of my heart, for considering my plea and for your unwavering generosity in my time of need.
With profound gratitude and heartfelt sincerity,
Stanley Shultz
