My name is Manzi Ramathan, I am a trans woman. I prefer by Queen Latifah she/ her I fled my home country of Rwanda and Muslim community there, due to persecution and violence based on my sexual orientation. Being transgender is equal to death!
After fleeing, I met other Transgenders who experienced same discrimination.
Unfortunately we claimed asylum in Kenya, a country which still criminalizes LGBTQ at the moment.
Currently, we're living hiddenly in one terrified corner of Africa in an undisclosed location. Here it's illegal to work for us so we have no way to support ourselves to survive. We were in Kenya, in camp called Kakuma for almost 3 years. Many died there due to transphobic discrimination, and sexual harassment. We were beaten by our fellow refugees, and police teargassed us. We decided to leave Kenya, and now we are in a country where all people speak Arabic language and are Muslim. They're just as homophobic, and Transphobic, if not more. They call us Devil, Stupid, Witches, etc. We are staying here in fear and unloved. No one seems to care for us. We have trauma, a lot of stress ,PTSD , and suicidal thoughts.
We are looking for FOOD, water clothes, shelter, blankets and medications.
