I am not one to ever ask for help and to have to ask for monetary assistance from friends and family absolutely crushes me. Since we moved back to Chico in 2020, Damian has been primarily funding his own way through BMX hardly ever asking me to help him and had helped me with our household bills.
Damian has been racing BMX for the past 10 years. Recently I watched as his passion for the sport has grown. He is a member of the non-profit board for Silver Dollar BMX as Rider Representative and works for Dan's Comp (for those that don't who, that's an online bike store geared towards BMX). He also helps coach and train young riders passionate about the sport. So to say his life revolves around his sport is an under statement. This year he qualified for the BMX World Championship being held in Scotland in August. Only 16 riders in the United States can qualify for his age class (17-24 men's cruiser challenge).
As some of you may know, I was in a car accident in February that totaled my truck, leaving me some moderate injuries, which caused me to miss work for close to two months and accrue a good chunk of medical bills. My disability payments has not been approved yet for the time I was unable to work. So money has been tight to say the least. Damian has helped so much financially during this time and would like to be able to provide him with this opportunity.
I am currently asking for the kindness of friends and family to help support this opportunity for Damian. I am not one to ask for help often, so this was not an easy decision to make, but I want to see Damian have the opportunity to experience this opportunity at least once in his life.
